Chalo Dilli...

Sunday was such a satisfying day ! Watched 2 movies back-to-back –Chalo Dilli and Limitless. And I must say what a treat it was :) Chalo Dilli has Lara dutta and Vinay Pathak in the lead. Lara, plays a top notch businesswoman and Vinay does total justice to his Dilli-da-puttar character! It has stereotyped characters: Lara- a cleanliness freak, career oriented, sophisticated lady and Vinay - a foul-mouthed, guthka chewing, paan spiting, anytime burping and farting, old-dilliwala, but who cares, we love stereotypes don’t we? ( Salman’s dabanng avatar in almost every latest movie of his!) The story revolves around how the protagonists who are going to Delhi by flight have a series of troubles and somehow reach Delhi after 2 days! Humour is majorly only because of Vinay, the desi character which he portrays to the best ! He is one of the finest actors who does justice to such raw Indian roles. He is very much un-adorable- a fatso, who is quite a juggad, pretty much mannerless, yet each time he smiles and calls Lara “behenji” you keep on liking him even more (Not that Lara looks like any kind of behenji :O). There are a series of mishaps, yet this dilli-da-puttar says “Kaun si badi baat ho gayi!” which makes you wonder what is THE big thing for him? And then begins the roller coaster in your mind whether you like or dislike him ! By the way Lara’s looking quite different, not sure if its for the character, but looks more matured and stern, and unlively( harsh word I know, but that’s what I felt) . The movie has wonderfully captured the desipan of India-the picturesque Rajasthan, reinforcing that the wanderer in me will surely make a visit to this place soon! And finally, all’s well that ends well, same applies to the movies too, and what a touching end this one has! Vinay’s playful character, the “Kaun si badi baat ho gayi”-attitude has a story behind it, and it has been portrayed so beautifully! It is then that you realize – “Kya aadmi hai boss !” There is so much to learn from his character (the good learnings I mean ;) ) Another thing I adored about the movie -it has subtly embedded lessons for daily Indian life and these unfold only towards the end of the movie as a description of happened to the others. I am listing the learnings from the movie: 1. Save the girl child: A son is a son till he gets a wife, a daughter’s a daughter all her life. 2. The young boy working at the dhaba gets enrolled to the school, thus laying emphasis on schooling. 3. In case of a ticketless travel, request the TC to prepare a new one. He has the authority to do so. 4. Do not spit in public places, this caused curfew in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan.(To know how, watch the movie !!) 5. And the local goondas get techno-advanced and start searching for their “dushman” via Google..LOL ! Overall it may not be the best movie we have seen in recent past, but yes I strongly suggest watching this movie once! You will leave the theatre with a smile on your face. Aajkal ki movies ke liye-“Ye badi baat hai !“ ;) ;) ********************************************************************** Phew ! I wanted to write about both the movies, but I guess I have too much to share, when it comes to movies ! :P So I’ll write about Limitless in the next blog…Byeeeeee !! :)
